A decorative typeface concept for the roads achieved by altering existing road painting tools.

Different shaped pen nibs create different decorative type effects. By altering the shape of an existing steel road painting tool, the typography changes from san serif to serif.

After building the tools, 26 letters of the English alphabet were painted on the road, photographed and converted into vectors, creating a digital typeface.

An A1 posterzine illustrates the process and outcome for each letter.
